Directions:Start with two people who love each other and are willing to build a life together. Add plenty of conversation—not just talking, but truly listening to what the other person has to say.
Spend time together often. Laugh together, make memories, take trips, sit on the porch, share meals, and enjoy the ordinary days just as much as the big ones.
When life gets hard, remember that you're on the same team. Never walk away from each other. Sometimes you may need a minute to cool down, pray, or gather your thoughts—and that's okay. Take the minute, but always come back.
Add forgiveness generously because neither of you will get everything right. Keep learning each other, even after all these years. Adjust the recipe when needed and never stop trying to make it better.
Finally, cover everything in prayer and keep God at the center of your marriage. When the other ingredients seem to fail, go back to Him. He is the one ingredient you simply cannot leave out.
Allow at least 33 years to develop—and don't expect it ever to be completely finished. The best recipes are the ones we keep working on for a lifetime. |

Notes: Scott, After 33 years, I still don't think we have this recipe completely figured out. There are things I could have done better, things we both would probably change, and lessons that took us much longer to learn than they should have. But through every high and every low, you have always been my person.
Thank you for being my rock when I wasn't strong enough to stand on my own, my best friend through every season, and the love of my life through all of it.
We've laughed, cried, disagreed, forgiven, grown, struggled, celebrated, raised a family, made beautiful memories, and somehow kept choosing each other along the way. And I would still choose you.
If these 33 years have taught me anything, it's that marriage isn't about finding the perfect recipe. It's about continuing to work on it together and knowing where your foundation lies.
With God, all things are possible. Without Him, we are nothing. I know He is the reason we've made it through the difficult seasons and the reason we've been blessed with so many beautiful ones.
Whatever years God still has planned for us, I want to spend them beside you—still talking, still laughing, still learning, still loving, still "TRAVELING" and probably still tweaking this recipe.
You are, and always will be, my best friend, my person, and the love of my life.
I love you always, "Blondie"
