1 heaping cup sugar
1 egg
1 pint sour milk (or use sour cream with a little milk) with 1 tsp soda added
Lard or Crisco the size of a hen's egg
4½ c. sifted flour
little lemon extract (½ tsp)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, egg and lard. Then add sour milk with soda. Dough will be soft. Roll out and cut. Fry in deep fat at 375º. While hot sprinkle powdered sugar over doughnuts.
