What you will need:

1 glass jar (I use a 1.5 liter Weck jar)

½ cup all-purpose unbleached flour

¼ c drinking water

What you need to do:

We feed Betty every evening before we go to bed. She eats the same thing, every night, ½ cup all-purpose flour and ¼ c drinking water. When starting a new starter, we only discard ½ on the Fourth day. Because we use a lot of starter at the homestead, we do not need to discard any of Wilma’s deliciousness.

Helpful Hints:

You can use your starter for many things (i.e. brownies, cakes, breads, pancakes etc.) Also, we change my jar every Sunday and when I change my jar, we make the new jar warm but running it under hot water before we transplant my starter into the new jar. We leave our starter on the counter and do not refrigerate.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
homestead sourdough starter. We encourage all of you to make a sourdough starter, so you can make scrumptious breads and pastries for your family.
