3 lbs. baking apples, peeled and sliced ¼ to ½" thick (tart apples are best)
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. butter
3 T cinnamon
2 c. AP flour
*walnuts or pecans optional

Directions:
Directions:
Spread apples in a 9 x 13 x 2½-inch pan. The pan should be filled with apples to within ½" of the top of the pan.

Mix sugars, butter, cinnamon and flour (and nuts) with a pastry blender or a fork until crumbly.

Spread crumb mixture over apples and bake at 350ºF until done, about 30 to 45 minutes. A fork should easily into the cooked apples.

Freezing is not recommended as it will turn the apples into sauce.
