2 cups ground poppy seed
2 cups sugar
¾ cup milk
2 tablespoons of lemon zest (about 1 large lemon)
1 egg (this keeps the filling shiny for Kolaches)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and heat for 10 minutes, stirring constantly
2. Set aside to cool (will thicken while it cools)

I have adjusted the Hungarian Christmas Bread filling by one egg to make the Kolache filling more attractive after baking.
