Melt in 10 inch skillet 3 tablespoons butter. Add ½ cup light brown sugar. Cook 5 minutes until thickened. Add ½ cup nuts set aside, keep warm.
Combine 2 cups cake flour, 3 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp ginger, 1 ½ tsp cinnamon, ¾ tsp salt
Cream together ½ cup shortening, and ¾ cup light brown sugar. Add flour mixure and ½ cup milk with 1 ½ tsp vinegar.

Pour this over the nut mixture, bake one hour in moderate oven.
