1 cup water
1/2 cup basmati, or jasmine rice
1 tbsp. butter or olive oil
1 cube chicken bullion

*you can also use chicken stock in place of water and skip the bullion if you have it*

Directions:
Directions:
In good sauce pan with tight fitting lid place water butter/oil and bullion and boil with lid on. Once water is boiling add rice stir quickly and place lid back on, place heat on low and simmer for 20 min. DO NOT TOUCH LID. It's important for the lid to remain in place for proper steaming. Fluff with fork once 20 min is up.

This is as basic as it gets. I prefer basmati rice due to its almost pop-corn flavor. Feel free to add bay leaves and crushed garlic into water for extra Latin flavor. Saffron and garlic will give you Indian/middle east flavor. Use Jasmine rice and garlic if serving with oriental flavors.
