"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Directions:
No instructions were given. I would say cream shortening & sugars, add vanilla. Mix together the flour, oatmeal, soda, salt, & baking powder and add to creamed mixture. Fold in the coconut cereal & chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I don't remember coconut in mom's Ranger cookies, or her using Crisco. I'm thinking that when her cholesterol became high, she eliminated the coconut and changed crisco to stick margarine, but not sure.
I think she made all her cookies with stick margarine.
