2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. dates chopped
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. melted butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Add dates to boiling water and let stand 20 minutes. Add melted butter and well beaten egg to sugar. Sift flour, soda and salt together and add alternately with date mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in well greased loaf pan at 325º about 50 minutes.
