1 package (4 oz) Baker's German Sweet Chocolate
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2/1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate over hot water. Let cool. Cream butter & sugar together. Add melted chocolate to sugar mixture and mix thoroughly. Beat in eggs one at a time . Add vanilla. Set aside. Mix flour & salt together. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Alternately add flour mixture & buttermilk to chocolate mixture. Pour into 3 greased & floured 9" layer pans. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Cool & frost between layers & top with Coconut Pecan Filling

I have also baked this as a one layer cake in a 9 x 13 cake pan. Tastes just as delicious as layering.
