Directions:
Boil ham bone with onion and celery until ham is falling off the bone.

Remove from heat, strain and pick out the lean pieces of ham.

Wash and drain 1 pound of Northern beans.

Cook the beans in the ham broth, add the ham and some of the drippings saved from when the ham was baked. Add 1 large chopped onion and 2 cups diced celery.

Cook until beans are almost tender then add 2 cups of diced potatoes.

Add pepper to taste.

Some of us like to add a splash of vinegar to our bowl of soup.

Everyone loves this soup! Grew up with it, made it, and have shared recipe many times! Not sure the story behind the splash of vinegar. But Dad and the majority of us always added it! Yum!
