3 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
3 c. brown sugar
1 c. cherries (juice poured off)
1 c. sweet milk
1 c. butter
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. hickory nuts, chopped fine

Cream sugar and butter together. Sift flour and all dry ingredients together. Combine. Add milk, cherries and nuts (rolled in flour). Lastly, add the beaten eggs.

Glenna says: "This recipe was in my mother's cookbook, in her handwriting. It was her neighbor's recipe, "Bonnie Duncan" 1957. Mom would go into the woods & gather hickory nuts, & get the cherries from her cherry tree in the yard. She knew the baking temp. & time, and didn't feel it necessary to remind herself."
