6-8 ears of fresh corn (white or yellow)
1/2 cup water
Salt
Black Pepper
1 stick butter or margarine

Directions:
Remove husks and silk, then wash corn. Work with one ear of corn at a time, standing the ear up in a pan. Use a very sharp knife to cut off the top of the kernels; cut again to remove the remaining layer of corn, then scrape the cob to remove the "milk" from the cob. Repeat with each ear. To the pan of cut corn, add the 1/2 cup water, salt, pepper and a tsp. sugar. Put all into an iron skillet or non-stick skillet. Melt butter in skillet. Add corn with juice when skillet is hot. Cook until mixture is thick, about 30 - 45 minutes. Stir well and lower the heat, as necessary, to prevent sticking. Serve warm.
