Directions:
Blend dry ingredients gently into berries. Set aside. For crust, mix flour and salt together. Blend shortening into dry mixture with fork or pastry blender. Make a hole in the bottom of the bowl and add cold water, 1 Tbsp. at a time until well blended. Form into a ball. Split in half and roll onto a circle on a well floured flat surface. Place the bottom crust in the pie pan. Pour berry filling onto bottom crust. Dot filling with whole berries and small dots of butter. Place the remaining crust on top of the berries, crimp edges and seal.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe if from my paternal grandmother - the world's best pie maker - sorry Aunt Velma! It is best to make slits in the top crust to release steam. You can also brush egg white on the top crust for a shiny browned crust.
