1/4 c. margarine or butter
2 tbsp. flour
2 minced garlic cloves
2 chopped onions
1/2 chopped green pepper
1 can tomato paste (6 oz.)
1 pkg. frozen orka
3 beef bouillon cubes
4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. of dried basil
1 bay leaf
1 -1/2 tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 c. water
1 -1/2 lbs. shelled deveined raw shrimp
3 c. hot cooked white rice
1/4 c. snipped parsley

Melt butter in Dutch oven or heavy kettle. Stir in flour and cook over low heat until browned. Add garlic, onions, green pepper and cook slowly until tender. Add tomato paste, okra, bouillon cubes, seasonings and water. Simmer uncovered 45 minutes. Add shrimp and simmer covered for 5 minutes or until shrimps are pink. Serve gumbo in shallow bowls, adding a dash of Spice Island Gumbo File' Seasoning or other gumbo seasoning. Toss hot rice with parsley and add to each bowl of gumbo.
