1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 tspn. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tspn. cinnamon
1 tspn. each salt and nutmeg
1 1/2 cups chopped toasted Filberts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margarine, sugar, vanilla until light and fluggy. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in nuts. Divide into 4 portions. Make into loaves and bake at 400 degrees for 15 mins.

Cut while warm, diagonally into bars and cool on racks.

My family loves nuts. I remember having Filberts at the table after a big meal along with fresh fruit. I could still smell the oranges as they are peeled by hand at the table, and hear the cracking of the nutshells.
