(A Christmas favorite of Grandma Angie)

½ lb. of margarine or butter (softened)
1 cup of sugar
2 egg yolks (save whites and beat with fork)
1 tspn. of vanilla
2 squares of unsweetened chocolate (melted in same paper in double boiler)
2 cups of sifted flour
½ tspn salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix sugar and margarine well. Add egg yolks, vanilla, and melted chocolate. Mix thoroughly flour and salt and add to other ingredients. Roll dough into small balls. Roll balls into egg whites and then into chopped nuts. (1 ½ to 2 cups finely chopped nuts needed).

Place on ungreased cookie sheets and thumb press each cookie.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes or until done. Don’t overcook.

Grandma Angie made these along with the boozy bourbon balls and Dom Deluise cookies. These were part of our holiday baking each year. Oh, don't forget the Spritz (butter) cookies, too!
